Self-Care through Mindfulness explores the practice of becoming mindful in a way that is both practical and productive. Explore the difference between mindfulness and meditation and learn to choose the best practice to maximize the benefit during demanding times. Learn to use mindfulness as a tool for self-care and stress management to maintain wellness.

Ashiya L. Swan, MS
Ashiya Swan has merged her skills as a holistic coach, yoga instructor and circle facilitator to provide restorative wellness services for both individuals and groups.
As a Mindfulness Coach, Ashiya's approach to self-care and stress management has been requested to support those who work or live in a variety of high-pressure environments. Ashiya’s experience has allowed her to work with teams to improve the culture of the workplace for both corporations and nonprofits. As a Collaborating Partner with the Center for Integrative Learning and Teaching Nashville, Ashiya also works with school leaders, administrators, and teachers to integrate social and emotional learning into new and existing school cultures.
Ashiya is the Executive Director for the Nashville Freedom School Partnership which serves youth ages K-12 in North Nashville. Additionally, Ashiya has also designed curriculum for youth development including teen programs for the Vocational Summer Institute at Bethlehem Centers Nashville.
Ashiya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master of Science in Biology from Tennessee State University. Ashiya studies yoga as a student of Master Instructor Yirser Ra Hotep and is a Certified Kemetic Yoga Instructor through Yogaskills School of Kemetic Yoga™ in Chicago, Illinois. Ashiya is also a Certified Holistic Coach through Radiant Health Institute and trained as a Peacekeeping Circle Facilitator with The Circle Center, both in Nashville. In October 2015 Ashiya completed her Advanced Circle training with Kay Pranis through the Circle Center. Ashiya also completed her Advanced Holistic Coach Training in April 2016. Ashiya trained as a doula at Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery in Orlando, Florida and completed the InnerKids Model training with Susan Kaiser Greenland through the Center for Integrated Learning and Teaching in Nashville.
