LGBTQ+ 101; Creating Open and Affirming Spaces

This session is designed to equip and empower attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to support and respect LGBTQ+ youth so they can learn, grow, and thrive. Utilizing current school climate data, this session will offer introductory best practices on creating open and affirming spaces for all young people, especially those who identify within the LGBTQ+ spectrum.
Presenter
Joseph Clark is the Just Us Program Manager with Oasis Centers. Just Us is a positive youth development program that focuses exclusively on LGBTQ middle and high school students throughout Middle Tennessee. With over 10 years of positive youth development and direct service experience, Joseph strives to create a safe and affirming space where LGBTQ+ youth feel empowered to explore and celebrate their identities, build community, and express themselves authentically.
Beyond providing direct youth service, Joseph also delivers trainings to current and future educators, counselors, and community organizations to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people have equitable access to services and can thrive in their communities.
