Course Description

Our presentation will cover substantive topics of tenants' rights with clarity on how specific rights may be enforced. The presentation is intended to help service providers to be able to issue-spot for violations of tenants' rights and to understand better how the laws which govern rental housing are structured and how they impact renters in Tennessee.

We will review the basics of landlord/tenant responsibilities, walk through the entire eviction process, review how to deal with eviction histories and credit, explain illegal evictions and recourse that is available to tenants in these situations, talk about paying the rent and rights that Nashville tenants have concerning rent increases, and review Fair Housing. We will be discussing these topics with a trauma-informed lens.
